The current ministries of Mission Arvada:
Gloria Pruessner Memorial Food Bank
Our Food Bank is open to all in need of food. We currently serve approximately 8,000 people a year and this number is growing. The Food Bank is open Saturdays and Mondays from 10-12a
Donated clothing is available for free during the hours the food bank is open.
A Christian based twelve step program for all dealing with hurts, hangups, and habits. Large group meetings are Thursdays at 6:30p. Men’s and Women’s step studies are Wednesdays at 6:30pm.
Homeless Day Shelter
Monday through Friday from 9a through 3p, the homeless of Arvada are invited into the church for encouragement, food, and help. Showers, activities, and service opportunities are offered. As relationships are developed we seek to discover the current situation and needs of each individual person. We then seek to work with each individual to find their path to housing. We help obtain IDs, identify the developmentally disabled and those with substance or mental health issues. We connect veterans with the VA. We job coach. In all situations we guide and help based on the person’s own ability to help themselves. We offer Bible Studies for the homeless population and invite them to be part of our church and worship services. We believe relationships are a key to ending homelessness. As a society we have to stop just depending on impersonal “agencies.” Homeless people need love, acceptance, and people to walk with them on the path to a better life and to find housing.
Homeless Winter Supplies
Through the generous support of the Arvada community we gather winter bedding and clothing supplies. We also purchase arctic rated sleeping bags and needed with donated money. We are able to then provide them to the Arvada homeless who are in need of Winter supplies to survive the Colorado Winters.
Severe Weather Shelter
In the Winter of 2016-2017 The Rising was the only church in Arvada to provide emergency severe weather shelter for homeless men and women. This year three other churches (The Arvada Vineyard, Arvada Covenant, and Cornerstone Church of God) have offered to help in sheltering. Through the Jefferson County based Severe Weather Shelter Network, the three churches will offer shelter from November 2018 through March 2019. The Rising Day Shelter will be open 7:30 – 1:00 when the SW Shelter has been open during the week. The three churches will each rotate a week. The Rising will also provide emergency severe weather shelter in October, and April as needed.
The Blessing Box
The Blessing Box located on our property is for anyone to give or take as they have need. People fill the box with non-perishable food and hygiene supplies. People are encouraged to take from the box what they need.

Health & Legal Clinics
The church organizes and hosts periodic clinics which are available to the homeless and poor.
This coming year we hope to offer classes in English as a Second Language, basic financial management, computer, as well as tutoring for GED.
A future goal of Mission Arvada is to begin ministries that will focus on the spiritual and material needs in lower income apartment complexes and mobil home parks.
Our desire is that Mission Arvada grow as people and churches come forward to participate in these current ministries or begin new ones.
