Homelessness in Arvada has many faces. They are all people who we believe are not discards of society, but who are loved by God and need people to walk with them to either help them now or give guidance when they are ready.
The Rising Church is the hub of homelessness in Arvada. Through our Day Shelter, we serve as somewhat of a triage center and ministry center for this at risk population in our city. Vets, developmentally disabled, people with substance abuse issues, people with mental health issues as well as just people down on their luck, come our way daily. We seek to help these people find services, housing, clothing, food, bedding, showers. We serve hot breakfast and lunch daily – Monday through Friday during the months of September-May. Summer hours for the Day Shelter, June – August, Tuesday-Thursday 9:00-1:00. We also provide love and encouragement and give them a place to give back to their community. A significant number of Olde Town homeless help us run our food bank which currently serves about 8,000 people a year.
We are not a wealthy church, and seek the support of the community to help us with this ministry.
How you can help:
- Give sleeping bags, backpacks, blankets, coats, socks, mens and womens clothing, and towels to the church
- Give financially to Mission Arvada or to The Rising Church
- Donate Food for daily breakfast and lunches
- Support those trying to deal with homelessness
- Talk with a homeless person and get to know them. They are people just like everyone else.
The homeless need to be able to eat. They need to be able to stay warm and not freeze to death in the cold Colorado Winters. The homeless need the community to stand in the gap for them. This is one of the reasons why The Rising Church ministers to the homeless that God has literally placed on our door step. We invite you to help us in this ministry.
